What Is the CSN Diet?
The CSN diet is a structured weight loss programme developed by Christo Strydom Nutrition — a South African company that has been producing natural, plant-based supplements for weight loss and metabolic health for over two decades. CSN is not a meal plan you download and forget. It is a 6-phase, 60-day protocol that combines a specific eating approach with natural supplements, designed to reset your metabolism and deliver sustained fat loss — available nationwide across South Africa.
What makes the CSN diet different from most weight loss approaches is the phased structure. Each phase has a different nutritional focus, and the natural supplements change with each phase to support what your body is doing at that stage. There is no calorie counting, no exercise requirement, and no injections. The products are 100% natural and plant-based.
“I started at 47 after years of trying everything else. Clean eating, gym, calorie deficits — I did it all. Some things worked for a while. Nothing lasted. The CSN programme was the first time I felt my body actually change the way it processed food. The detox phase alone was unlike anything I had experienced. By the end of 15 weeks, 37 kg was gone — and it has stayed gone.” — Karien Nel, Independent CSN Consultant, 2016 CSN Ambassador Award
The programme is particularly effective for South African women between 35 and 60 who have tried other approaches and found the results either too slow, too difficult to maintain, or simply not effective enough. Hormonal changes, a slower metabolism, and the demands of daily life — long commutes, braai culture, stress — make it hard for most women to sustain results on generic diet plans. CSN works around your life, not against it.
The 6 Phases of the CSN Programme
The CSN programme is divided into 6 phases, each lasting 10 days. Every phase has a specific eating protocol and a matching set of natural supplements. The phases build on each other — skipping ahead does not work.
Detox Phase — CSN Diet 10-Day Detox
The programme begins with a full digestive reset. Natural CSN supplements cleanse the digestive system, reduce bloating and inflammation, and prepare your body for fat loss. This is the most dramatic phase for most women — the body clears out what has been accumulating for years. The CSN diet 10 Day Detox is also available as a standalone entry package.
4–8 kg average loss in Phase 1Some detox symptoms are normal in the first few days — headaches, fatigue, digestive changes. This is covered in detail in the side effects section below.
Protein Phase
With the digestive system reset, Phase 2 builds metabolic momentum. The eating focus shifts to high-quality proteins, and your body begins transitioning into a more efficient fat-burning state. Energy often improves noticeably during this phase as the metabolism starts responding.
The supplement protocol changes for Phase 2, switching from detox support to metabolic and protein absorption support.
Many clients report reduced cravings by the end of Phase 2. The shift is real — your body is running on a different fuel mix.
Combination and Reset Phases
The final four phases combine the detox and protein protocols in alternating cycles, allowing your body to continue losing fat while beginning to calibrate to its new metabolic baseline. This is where the long-term reset happens.
Phases 3 through 6 are what separate the CSN 60-Day Programme from a generic short-term diet. The metabolic patterns established in these phases are what make maintenance possible.
Each phase requires its own CSN supplement set. Karien confirms exactly which products you need when you order.
The 10-Day Detox Package includes Phase 1 supplements. The 30-Day Programme covers Phases 1 and 2. The 60-Day Programme covers all 6 phases. Karien will tell you exactly which products to take during your programme.
Ask Karien which phase you needCSN Diet Food List — What You Can Eat
One of the first questions clients ask: “What am I actually going to eat?” The CSN diet food list is specific, but it is not punishing. You will recognise everything on it, and most of it is available at your normal grocery store.
There is no calorie counting on the CSN programme. The protocol tells you which foods to eat, and the natural supplements do the metabolic work alongside your eating. What matters is following the food list for your current phase — not obsessing over portion sizes or macros.
Phase 1 (Detox) has the most restrictive food list — clean proteins, selected vegetables, and plenty of water. Most clients find this challenging for the first two or three days, then notice a significant reduction in hunger and cravings as the supplements begin working.
From Phase 2 onwards, the eating plan opens up considerably. South African staples feature, and the approach becomes easier to maintain socially. Braai is allowed in a limited form — lean meats without heavy sauces. Pap can feature in very limited portions from Phase 3.
“People assume it is a starvation diet. It is not. I was never hungry in the way I expected to be. The supplements are designed to support your appetite and your energy — you are fuelling your body differently, not depriving it.” — Karien Nel
For the complete breakdown of every food allowed per phase, see the full CSN diet food list. For day-by-day meal ideas, see the CSN diet meal plan. Karien also sends a personal guide with every order — so you won’t be navigating this from a generic PDF you found online.

CSN 10-Day Detox
I did not start as a CSN consultant. I started as a client, just like you. I had tried everything — weight management programmes, eating plans, gym contracts. When I tried CSN at 47, I expected it to be another thing I would abandon after three weeks. Fifteen weeks later, 37 kg was gone. Nine years later, it is still gone. That result is what turned me into a coach. Read what other clients say about working with me, or see the full before and after stories.

CSN Diet Side Effects — What Is Normal
Some things that happen in Phase 1 feel uncomfortable. That does not mean something is wrong. Here is what is actually happening in your body, and what you should know before you start.
Phase 1 is a detox phase. Your digestive system is clearing out years of accumulated waste, and your body is adjusting to a different fuel source. Some of what you feel during the first few days is the programme working, not failing. Understanding these CSN diet side effects means you do not panic and stop before the results come.
Headaches (Days 1–3)
Common in Phase 1, especially if you are accustomed to a high-sugar or high-caffeine diet. Your body is withdrawing from those inputs. Drink plenty of water and push through — it clears within 2 to 3 days for most clients.
Fatigue (Days 1–5)
Feeling tired in the first few days is your body redirecting energy to the detox process. Most clients report a noticeable energy lift from Day 5 or 6 onwards as the metabolism starts shifting.
Digestive changes (Days 1–4)
Increased bathroom visits in Phase 1 are normal and expected. The supplements are designed to cleanse the digestive tract. This settles significantly by the end of the first week.
Irritability or low mood
Changing your eating routine and blood sugar patterns affects your mood temporarily. A small number of clients feel irritable in the first few days. It passes. Having Karien on WhatsApp means you can check in if something feels off.
“I tell every client: the first 72 hours are the hardest. If you can get through Day 3, you will see this through. I have never had a client who pushed through that window and then regretted starting.” — Karien Nel
Who Is Karien Nel?
I am an independent CSN consultant and weight loss coach based in Moreletapark, Pretoria. I have been working with the CSN programme since 2016, when I used it to lose 37 kg at the age of 47 — in 15 weeks. Nine years later, I have not put those kilograms back on.
I am not a franchised outlet or a corporate call centre. I am one person — and when you WhatsApp me, I am the one who answers. The reason clients stick to the programme is because they have someone checking in on them, answering their questions at 9pm, and knowing their specific situation. That is what I offer.

Frequently Asked Questions
The questions Karien gets asked most often — answered directly and honestly.
What is the CSN diet?
The CSN diet is a structured 6-phase weight loss programme developed by Christo Strydom Nutrition — a South African company. It combines a specific eating protocol with 100% natural, plant-based supplements to reset your metabolism and drive sustained fat loss. Each phase is 10 days long, with a matching supplement set and food list. There is no calorie counting, no injections, and no exercise requirement. The programme is available nationally across South Africa and is particularly popular among women between 35 and 60 who have tried other approaches without lasting results.
How much does the CSN diet cost?
The CSN diet price depends on which package you choose. The 10-Day Detox is R1,149 and covers Phase 1 only. The 30-Day Programme is R2,699 and covers Phases 1 and 2 — this is the most popular starting point for women with 10–20 kg to lose. The 60-Day Programme covers all 6 phases and costs approximately R5,400 — recommended if you have more than 20 kg to lose or want a full metabolic reset. All prices include nationwide delivery and Karien’s personal WhatsApp coaching. See the full CSN diet price page.
Can I buy CSN products at Dischem?
No. CSN products are not available at Dischem. The Christo Strydom Nutrition programme is sold exclusively through authorised independent consultants — like Karien — and directly through the CSN website. Ordering through Karien means you receive the correct supplements for your specific phase, delivered to your door, with personal WhatsApp coaching throughout. See the full explanation at CSN and Dischem — the facts.
What does the CSN diet 10-Day Detox include?
The CSN diet 10-Day Detox covers Phase 1 of the programme — the digestive reset phase. It includes the full set of Phase 1 CSN supplements, Karien’s Phase 1 eating plan and food list, and 10 days of direct WhatsApp access to Karien. Delivered nationwide. Most clients on the 10-Day Detox lose between 4 and 8 kg. It is a standalone programme but also the natural entry point into the 30-Day and 60-Day programmes. Price: R1,149.
What are the side effects of the CSN diet?
The most common CSN diet side effects occur during Phase 1 and include headaches (Days 1–3), fatigue (Days 1–5), increased bathroom visits, and occasional irritability as your body adjusts. These are normal detox responses and resolve within the first week for most clients. They are signs the programme is working, not signs of a problem. Severe or persistent symptoms should be reported to Karien immediately. For a complete breakdown, see the CSN diet side effects page.
What are typical CSN diet before and after results?
CSN diet before and after results vary by individual, but typical Phase 1 results are 4–8 kg in 10 days. The 30-Day Programme typically produces 8–15 kg of weight loss. Karien’s own result was 37 kg in 15 weeks at age 47. These are real results, not guaranteed minimums — your starting weight, adherence to the food list, and your body’s metabolic response all affect your outcome. To read what clients say about their results, see CSN diet reviews from Karien’s clients.
Are there negative CSN diet reviews — what do Hello Peter complaints say?
CSN diet reviews negative feedback — including Hello Peter complaints — reveal a consistent pattern: most complaints come from clients who bought products without coaching and struggled to navigate the phases alone, or who did not follow the food list correctly. The programme requires commitment and structure. This is exactly why Karien includes personal WhatsApp coaching with every order — it is the single biggest factor separating clients who get results from those who don’t. If you have specific concerns after reading reviews, WhatsApp Karien directly — she will be honest about whether the programme is right for you.
Is there a free CSN diet PDF download?
There is no generic CSN diet PDF download free to share publicly — the programme is not a one-size-fits-all plan. Every client who orders through Karien receives a personal onboarding guide with phase-specific instructions, the food list for their current phase, and supplement timing guidance. This guide is tailored to your package and sent directly by Karien when your order is confirmed. A random PDF from the internet will not give you the correct protocol for your starting phase — which is why coaching matters.
Does the CSN diet require exercise?
No. Exercise is not required or recommended as part of the CSN programme, particularly during Phase 1. The programme is designed to produce results without exercise. Light walking is fine. Heavy gym sessions during Phase 1 are not advised — your body is directing its energy to the detox and reset process. Karien will guide you on activity levels when you start your programme.
